Morocco Dismantles ISIS-Linked Terror Cell in Safi, Arrests Five Suspects

New anti-terrorist operation this morning in the Safi region where several people have been arrested for their alleged links with the terrorist group the Islamic State.
In a statement, the Moroccan Ministry of the Interior reports the dismantling of a terrorist cell composed of five individuals, including a former detainee under the anti-terrorism law, who were active in the city of Safi.
In addition to having considered terrorist attacks within the country, these individuals aged 21 to 36 had planned to "join the ranks of this terrorist group on the Syrian-Iraqi scene, in coordination with one of its members on the ground," the Ministry of the Interior said.
Furthermore, one of the persons arrested this Friday morning, while he was in a sub-Saharan country, had tried "to obtain a recommendation with a view to joining one of the groups affiliated with "Daesh" active in the Sahel region."
All the alleged members of this terrorist cell have been taken into custody for the purposes of the investigation.
