Morocco’s M’diq-Fnideq Region Empowers Former Smugglers with Economic Support Program

The 4th group of beneficiaries of the support program for women in difficult situations received their checks on Thursday in Fnideq, to finance their projects. This is part of the "Emerging Regions" program.
The check presentation ceremony took place at the Fnideq House of Culture. The beneficiaries are some 22 girls and women who previously worked in "food smuggling" in the prefecture of M’diq-Fnideq. The checks received are an effort made by the prefecture to contribute to the economic takeoff for the benefit of the local population. With these 22 new beneficiaries, the total number has now reached 80 women and girls from the prefecture, who have received checks to acquire the necessary equipment, in order to launch income-generating projects.
The budget envelope dedicated to the "Emerging Regions" program, implemented during the 2020-2021 period, is mobilized by the Regional Council (6 million DH) and the supervisory ministry (6 million DH). This is a program that is part of the national program for the economic empowerment of women and girls, and the promotion of their economic and social rights through the qualification and empowerment of women in difficult situations or from a precarious environment.
It is a joint technical monitoring and selection committee that periodically examines the applications filed by women and girls carrying small projects, in order to benefit from the financial support and the support offered within the framework of this program.
