Morocco’s Diplomatic Gains on Western Sahara Spark Criticism of Algeria

Mohamed Ouzzine, Secretary General of the Popular Movement, said he was proud of Morocco’s diplomatic advances on the Sahara issue, not hesitating to attack Algeria on this issue.
According to the former minister, the international community is increasingly recognizing the legitimacy of Morocco and the effectiveness of the autonomy proposal put forward by the Kingdom, despite the opposition of the Algerian leaders.
During a speech in Dakhla, Ouzzine pointed the finger at Algeria, accusing it of being a main protagonist in the conflict. He accuses it of fueling tensions and questions the origins of the support for separation, pointing the finger at Algeria for its role in the escalation of the situation, including the financing and arming of the Polisario separatists.
"For the love of God, who founded it, welcomed it, financed and armed it? Who diverted billions of gas revenues to oppose the Moroccan right? Who spreads military media information to confuse the security and stability situation in all the cities of the Moroccan Sahara? And who was behind the vain skirmishes that targeted civilians in a practice that amounts to terrorism?" he said.
"They ignore by these positions that a strong, united Morocco, believing in legitimacy and legality, will not be affected by all the intrigues and plots, because it is on its land and with its people bound by the ties of allegiance to the kings of Morocco for a long time, and therefore everything Algeria does is a waste of time for development in the North African region," he concluded.
