Morocco Digital Boarding Pass: Paper Cards Phased Out

Called "Pax Check", the system is based on a digital boarding pass and dematerialized controls. After online check-in, the passenger receives a secure QR code on their smartphone provided by their airline.

This code can be presented at various control points as well as automated gates. The necessary document verifications must have been completed beforehand by the airline, in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Not all airlines are yet involved

The rollout will be gradual. Only airlines that have met the technical, operational and regulatory prerequisites will be able to immediately offer this journey without a printed boarding pass.

Travelers must therefore check, before departure, that their airline and flight allow exclusive use of the mobile boarding pass. The announcement does not mean that paper disappears immediately for all passengers and in all situations.

According to Airports of Morocco, "Pax Check" should improve traffic flow in terminals, reduce document handling and simplify the various steps preceding boarding, without changing safety and security requirements.

This evolution extends the digitalization already underway in air transport. After booking, check-in and flight tracking online, the phone now becomes the main document presented during the airport journey.
