Morocco's DGSN Revamps Traffic Enforcement Policies to Enhance Road Safety

The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) intends to inject new momentum into road surveillance. To this end, it has given new instructions to its traffic agents.

The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) is reviewing its road surveillance methods, to better serve road users and preserve human life, reports 360.ma, citing the newspaper Al Massae. According to the newspaper, Abdellatif Hammouchi has instructed his elements to control their behavior towards drivers in violation.

The Director General of National Security has thus called on his traffic agents to act with caution with drivers in violation, respecting the legal distance, at the time of checking documents.

In addition to these instructions, Abdellatif Hammouchi is working to equip his agents with new equipment. These are technological solutions dedicated to road surveillance such as radars, breathalyzers and cameras, to film discussions between agents and drivers. These solutions will not only help the DGSN to properly regulate traffic, but also to create an environment of transparency and respect for the rights and obligations of Moroccan citizens.

According to well-informed sources from the newspaper Al Massae, these new instructions from the DGSN chief follow a fatal incident that took the life of a police officer in M’diq. While he was trying to stop the driver of a motorcycle, all along the road connecting Marina Smir to the entrance of M’diq, on the evening of Sunday, July 14, he was hit at high speed by the offender who did not want to submit to his injunctions.
