Morocco Detects Three New Cases of UK COVID-19 Variant, Health Minister Reports

The Minister of Health, Khalid Aït Taleb said that three new cases of the British variant have recently been recorded in Morocco.
During his visit to several vaccination centers in the Béni Mellal-Khenifra region on the occasion of the launch of the national vaccination campaign, the minister deplored the detection of three cases of the British variant in Morocco.
Regarding other types of viruses, he explained that the kingdom is carrying out a thorough genomic surveillance of any new strain of this virus through four centers that submit a weekly report. He also denied the detection in the country of any other strain, including the South African one.
The first case of contamination with the British variant had been detected in January at the Tanger-Med port in a Moroccan arriving from Ireland on a boat from Marseille.
