Morocco Deploys Drones to Enforce COVID-19 Curfew During Ramadan

The Moroccan authorities are not the only ones concerned about compliance with the state of health emergency. The group of surveying engineers "Beti", in collaboration with the territorial authorities and the national security, launched drones on Monday in Témara to ensure compliance with the state of health emergency.
As part of the fight against covid-19, "Beti" has proposed to deploy drones in the city of Témara to ensure compliance with the confinement measures, in particular the ban on night travel throughout the holy month of Ramadan. The group of surveying engineers had already been called upon by the prefecture of Témara for mass data collection.
It is therefore quite rightly that they have been called upon again to help detect gatherings and groups of people via drones deployed in the city, declares to the press, Abdelhak Essadiki, surveying engineer, member of the Beti group. These are, according to him, "drones equipped with high-precision visual cameras, allowing to quickly detect people’s movements, to see them up close and even to deter them from staying outside". Then, explains the surveyor, these drones will be "equipped with very precise thermal cameras, which allow to detect body temperature, and therefore people, even in total darkness".
Regarding the technical characteristics, the drones can reach an altitude of 500 meters, within a radius of one kilometer and for a duration of 30 minutes, specifies Mr. Iraqi. "Beti" is a "group of four surveying engineering companies, whose objective is to meet technological challenges through the search for synergy, the pooling of human resources, the pooling of material resources and the distribution of investment effort".
