Morocco Deploys Airport Police and Gendarmes to Enforce Coronavirus Lockdown

Gendarmes and police officers stationed at the various airports in Morocco have been deployed on the ground, for proper monitoring of the confinement measure.
Elements of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) and the Royal Gendarmerie are now on the ground to further ensure compliance with the state of health emergency. This measure comes after the ban on travel abroad and movement between cities, reports the daily Al Massae.
This decision to redeploy elements of the police and Royal Gendarmerie aims to strengthen the containment measures imposed in Morocco to fight the spread of coronavirus.
To ensure the success of the measure, in addition to the gendarmes and police officers, elements attached to central or administrative services and graduates still in training at the Royal Police Institute of Kenitra, have also been involved.
Joint patrols are organized to ensure compliance with preventive measures. In addition to this, the number of control posts on the main road axes, on the main streets of the large cities and on the access roads to the popular neighborhoods has been multiplied. These patrols will help enforce the preventive health measures taken by the authorities.
These measures come in response to the findings recorded in the reports, relating to numerous violations of the state of health emergency. Because, at the current stage of the situation, where the virus continues to rage, confinement remains the only possible solution.
