Morocco Deploys 280 New Traffic Radars to Enhance Road Safety

Some 280 fixed and mobile radars have been received this year by the various security services (police and gendarmerie), said the Minister of Equipment Abdelkader Amara during a session of the Board of Directors of the National Road Safety Agency (NARSA).
These equipment will allow the security forces to control speed, overtaking and compliance with traffic lights. "These actions are part of raising citizens’ awareness of the importance and respect of the Highway Code," the minister said. He also indicated that the work of the NARSA Board of Directors has mainly focused on the digitalization of the services offered by NARSA so that staff and users can be spared unnecessary hassles.
For his part, the director of NARSA, Benacer Boulaajoul, indicated that this meeting of the Board of Directors was also an opportunity for the Agency to conclude two agreements with the National Security and the Royal Gendarmerie. Their objective is to equip these units with new generation portable radars capable of detecting offenses committed up to 2 km away.
