Morocco Denies Third COVID-19 Death Among Medical Staff, Urges Caution on Rumors

The Ministry of Health has denied allegations that the medical staff in Marrakech has recorded a third death related to covid-19.
In a statement, the ministry said that the deaths of the two doctors were due to contact with a person infected with covid-19 outside their work, and not as a result of contamination that occurred in the exercise of their professional duties.
Furthermore, the ministry called on Moroccans and local media not to promote rumors because of their negative effects on the psychological state of the families of patients with covid-19.
The ministry also recalled that any information on the epidemiological situation associated with the coronavirus, including deaths among health personnel, falls exclusively within its department. It did not fail to express its determination to provide all the means of prevention to its staff working in various health institutions.
It also committed to "redouble its efforts to ensure that all health professionals have personal protective equipment to regularly prevent infections".
