Morocco Denies State of Emergency Rumors Amid Coronavirus Concerns

The spread of the coronavirus would have prompted the authorities to declare a state of emergency. In a statement, the Ministry of the Interior denied these allegations and called on citizens to remain calm and not succumb to panic.
Rumors are raging despite the threats of sanctions. In a statement, the Ministry of the Interior took care to recall that "all the proactive and precautionary measures taken to reduce the effects of the spread of the virus are announced through official channels," and not through the messages circulated with the aim of sowing fear among the population.
"The authors of the fabrication and publication of Fake news, likely to undermine the safety and security of citizens, are liable to the sanctions provided for by law," the statement warns.
