Morocco Denies Rumors of Wastewater Discharge in Kenitra River

The Ministry of Energy, Mines and Environment has just denied the information that wastewater was being discharged into the river near Kenitra.
Contrary to what is being circulated on social networks, it states that the work that is the subject of the photo accompanying the article in question, "concerns the construction of the stormwater pipe and not the wastewater". Moreover, "this work carried out between 2016 and 2017, was supervised by the autonomous water and electricity distribution authority of Kenitra," reports the MAP.
According to the press release, the wastewater from Mehdia is pumped by two pumping stations to the Kenitra Wastewater Treatment Plant (STEP), in service since January 2020. Similarly, the Autonomous Authority of Kenitra (RAK) has built two stormwater discharge pipes at the level of the Oued Sebou.
