Morocco Denies Rumors of Resuming Friday Prayers Amid Coronavirus Restrictions

While the coronavirus continues to ravage almost all countries in the world, including Morocco, rumors are circulating about the resumption of Friday prayers in the kingdom.
False! The Moroccan authorities have not announced the resumption of Friday prayers in mosques. The information about a probable resumption next week is false.
On Monday, March 16, the Supreme Council of Ulema had announced the closure of mosques in Morocco from 6:30 pm, as well as the suspension of Friday prayers. This fatwa had been issued following a request addressed by King Mohammed VI to the scientific body responsible for the religious consultation of the Supreme Council of Ulema. It is in line with the measures taken by the Moroccan authorities to curb the spread of covid-19 in the kingdom.
