Morocco Denies Rumors of Coronavirus Quarantine Zones, Warns Against Misinformation

Several audio recordings are circulating on social media, claiming that certain areas of Morocco have been placed in quarantine due to the spread of the coronavirus. While reassuring the population about the false nature of these audios, the Ministry of the Interior made some clarifications.
This information circulating since Friday, March 13 on social networks and instant messaging applications is unfounded, the Ministry of the Interior stressed, regretting at the same time the dissemination of calls "excessively inciting citizens to take exceptional and illogical measures".
The Ministry of the Interior calls on all citizens to ensure the "veracity of the information circulating and to collect it from reliable official sources and not to give credence to false and misleading allegations".
It also recalls, for all intents and purposes, that "the production and dissemination of false information, which undermines the security of citizens, are punishable by law".
