Morocco Denies Reports of Mosque Reopenings Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

For a few days now, information has been circulating on many websites announcing the reopening of mosques in Morocco from June 4. The Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs categorically denied these allegations on Thursday.
The Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs denounced these false and dangerous information circulated at such a critical time, when the authorities are doing everything to protect the population against covid-19.
In its press release, it calls on the population to be vigilant and to rely only on information from official sources, "especially when it comes to religious matters," reports the MAP.
It should be recalled that the closure of places of worship is part of the measures taken by the Moroccan authorities to contain the spread of the coronavirus. Mosques and other places of worship have remained inaccessible since the first case of contamination was detected in Morocco.
