Morocco Denies Reports of Imminent Border Reopening Amid COVID-19 Concerns

The information disseminated by many Moroccan media, including Bladi.net, relating to the recommendations of the Covid-19 scientific and technical committee on an upcoming reopening of borders is false, according to the Ministry of Health.
In a press release published on Wednesday, the Health Department provided a formal denial following the rumors related to the restoration of air and sea links, specifying that no recommendation has been advised in this direction by the Covid-19 scientific and technical committee.
This committee meets every week or as needed to examine the epidemiological situation of the kingdom and globally, to make observations to the minister with a view to any appropriate provisions.
"Morocco is still not immune to a new epidemic outbreak, particularly after the emergence of the new Omicron variant which the WHO has described as worrying," the ministry continued, urging Moroccans to maintain vigilance and strict observance of preventive measures.
