Morocco Denies Macron Visit Plans, Contradicting French Foreign Minister

The visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Morocco, mentioned by French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna in an interview, "is not on the agenda and is not scheduled," said a Moroccan government source to the MAP.
The same Moroccan government source says it is "surprised" that Catherine Colonna publicly announced such a visit, describing it as a "unilateral initiative". The announcement was made without prior consultation, concerning an "important bilateral deadline", notes the Moroccan official.
Last February, French President Emmanuel Macron had already declared that he had "friendly" and "good" relations with Morocco. A statement denied by an official Moroccan source.
The relations between France and Morocco "are neither friendly nor good, neither between the two governments nor between the Royal Palace and the Élysée," reacted the official source within the Moroccan government in the magazine Jeune Afrique, to the remarks of the French president who affirmed in a press conference after his speech on relations between France and Africa at the Élysée Palace on February 27 that his relations with King Mohammed VI are "friendly" and "will remain so".
