Morocco Denies Lockdown Rumors Amid Rising COVID-19 Cases, Investigation Launched

The government has denied the rumor of a new lockdown of the population. However, no general decision has yet been made by the authorities to counter this resurgence of new infections.
To confirm this false information, a statement signed by a so-called government was widely circulated on social media. Informed of this rumor, the Head of Government immediately denied the information on his Twitter account.
In addition, an investigation has been opened and entrusted to the National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ).
Faced with the increase in contaminations, a decision could be made in the coming days. To date, the Kingdom has 219,084 active cases, 181,275 recoveries and 3,895 deaths with a mortality rate set at 1.7%.
