Morocco Denies Accepting Algerian Aid After Earthquake, Minister Calls for Investigation

Justice Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi reacted to the controversy over the alleged "acceptance of Algerian aid" by Morocco, denouncing a misinterpretation of his remarks by certain media.
Ouahbi firmly condemned the allegations of the Algerian authorities that he had accepted Algerian aid after the powerful earthquake that hit the kingdom, announcing the opening of an investigation to shed light on this matter, reports Hespress.
The Minister of Justice assures that the information relayed by certain media is unfounded. "A journalist in Egypt wrote about this, but when he was asked the source of the information, he simply replied: ’Someone told me,’" he explained.
The government member recalled having declared to an international media the day after the earthquake that the Moroccan people are united, that Morocco has its own resources and capacities to deal with the consequences of this natural disaster, and that Morocco will not hesitate to call for help if the need arises.
In his capacity as minister and mayor of Taroudant, heavily affected by the deadly earthquake, Abdellatif Ouahbi said he will not stop communicating about this tragedy, despite the criticism.
