Morocco’s Demolished Luxury Villas Were Sold to Buyers, Raising Legal Questions

The demolished villas of Sud Partners, as part of the demolition operation of unauthorized buildings within the Taghazout Bay resort, would have been sold to individuals.
Individuals would have acquired the villas of Sud Partners, for sums between 10 and 15 MDH, confides a close relative of an owner to Écoactu.ma. The site claims to have unsuccessfully tried to contact the company’s executives to verify the information.
According to Abdelkbir Tabih, a lawyer at the Casablanca Bar, if the information proved to be true and accurate, the buyers of the demolished villas of Sud Partners all have the possibility of taking the matter to court against the company. They can claim damages from it.
After the many irregularities noted in the construction of the new seaside and tourist resort "Taghazout bay", during a visit on Saturday, February 8, King Mohammed VI had ordered the stoppage of the construction site, the demolition of the villas and part of the hotels. He also gave instructions for the reconstruction of several buildings.
