Morocco Delays Easing Lockdown as Health Ministry Urges Caution

In the absence of stable epidemiological data, any debate on a possible deconfinement of the population next Monday would be premature and could have dramatic consequences, according to statements from the Ministry of Health.
While the epidemiological indicators in Morocco show a slight stability in the incidence of the disease and the number of deaths, this does not prevent remaining vigilant and avoiding anticipating the lifting of the quarantine.
With the appearance of family clusters of contamination, added to the difficulty of identifying infected people without revealing signs, and the increase in the number of contacts, it becomes difficult at this stage to outline a deconfinement strategy.
Moreover, the Moroccan government does not currently have reliable data to declare the lifting, even gradual, of the confinement in the coming days.
The task has moreover been entrusted to a technical commission composed of academics and specialist doctors in bacteriology and epidemiology. These experts are looking at the prevalence of the disease among the population and its future evolution.
