Morocco Delays COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign as Vaccine Delivery Slows

Morocco is not yet ready to launch the vaccination campaign due to the unavailability of vaccines. This delay is justified by the slowness in their delivery by the laboratories with which the Kingdom has concluded the agreements.
"We cannot receive an unregistered or unusable vaccine. There are therefore rules for any vaccine to pass and meet these requirements, whether in terms of efficacy or usability," clarified the minister in an interview with Al-Alam. "We hope this will be accomplished before the end of the current year," reassured Khalid Ait Taleb. The minister specifies that he prefers not to communicate on the launch date of the campaign, in order not to give false hopes to Moroccans.
In total, the kingdom has concluded two agreements for the acquisition of 65 million doses of the Chinese vaccine from the Sinopharm laboratory and the British laboratory AstraZeneca. For the minister, the other countries that have already launched their campaign (European Union countries, Israel...) have placed orders with the American Pfizer.
In accordance with the royal instructions, the vaccine will be free. But the vaccination campaign requires a large-scale logistical organization, linked in particular to conservation, but also to the necessary authorizations from the competent authorities, specifies the same daily.
