Morocco Delays Annual Summer Return of Expatriates Amid COVID-19 Concerns

The return of Moroccans residing abroad to their country of origin this summer is still not on the agenda, according to Spanish media, which consider that the special health measures adopted in each of the countries concerned do not facilitate consultation on the subject.
The Moroccan government and its Spanish counterpart have agreed to meet in early June to discuss the Marhaba 2020 operation or the Strait Crossing Operation (OPE), as it is called in Spanish terminology.
However, they specify, it would be unrealistic to consider the return of MREs in June this year, unlike previous editions that took place in the first week of June.
Certainly, rumors had circulated about the reopening of the Moroccan borders around September, recall the same sources, nevertheless stressing that these data are likely to change depending on the evolution of the epidemiological situation in the countries concerned.
