Morocco to Debut First Apache AH-64E Guardian Helicopter at Marrakech Airshow

In June 2020, a contract for the acquisition of 24 Apache AH-64 helicopters had been concluded between the American aircraft manufacturer Boeing and the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) as part of the US government’s Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program dedicated to the sale of defense products and military equipment abroad.
Morocco will present its first Apache AH-64E Guardian helicopter, the latest version of the aircraft, at the Marrakech Airshow 2024, which will be held from October 30 to November 2 next. This is one of the 24 aircraft that the kingdom had ordered from the American aircraft manufacturer Boeing. The delivery of the first helicopter should be effective at the end of September or the beginning of October 2024. Deliveries will continue until mid-2026. In the meantime, work has been undertaken to prepare the Khouribga military base to accommodate the Apache squadrons by the end of the year and early 2025.
"The acquisition of these advanced aircraft offers a significant strategic advantage to Morocco, thus strengthening its defense capabilities for the years to come," said Christina Upah, Vice President of Attack Helicopter Programs and Senior Site Director at Boeing Mesa. Designed for multi-mission roles and offering enhanced capabilities, the Apache AH-64E helicopter is a model equipped with the latest communication, navigation, sensor, and armament systems, including laser-guided Hellfire missiles to destroy tanks, and a 30 mm cannon capable of firing 600 rounds per minute. It is one of the most powerful attack helicopters in the world.
The aircraft is also equipped with a modernized day, night, and all-weather target acquisition and tracking system.
