Morocco Debunks False Lockdown Rumors Amid COVID-19 Surge

A fake joint press release from the Ministries of the Interior and Health, written in Arabic, and announcing new restrictive measures or a new lockdown starting Monday, August 3, has been circulating on social media. This is not the case, reassures the Ministry of the Interior.
Moroccan citizens and the Moroccan press were expecting this Monday a possible decision from the Ministries of the Interior and Health regarding the tightening of restrictive measures or even a new lockdown, given the resurgence of new coronavirus cases in the country.
A fake press release published on social media, written in Arabic, and allegedly from the Ministries of the Interior and Health, had convinced them of such an option by the government.
It is fake news, clarifies a source within the Ministry of the Interior quoted by Médias24, who specifies that for the time being, no official decision has been made regarding a possible new lockdown.
The same source recommends that Internet users avoid sharing this "fake document" in order not to create a psychosis within public opinion.
