Morocco Debunks False Claims of Donkey Meat Sales in Fnideq Butcher Shops

The rumors about the sale of donkey meat in certain butchers in Fnideq are false, assures a joint control commission after conducting its investigation.
This information relayed on social networks is fake news, indicates the joint control commission led by the local authorities and composed of gendarmerie services as well as all the services concerned (ONSSA, hygiene, etc.) who conducted their investigation. The investigations continue to determine the origin of this video circulated on social networks, showing the head of a donkey and the rest of its organs thrown in a forest located on the outskirts of Belyounech, reports the daily Al Akhbar.
The members of this commission carried out an unannounced inspection of all the butchers in Fnideq and did not find any meat of unknown origin there. "Also, everything that has been widely disseminated via the WhatsApp application as voice messages is nothing but a malicious rumor. It is still necessary to recall that the control of everything presented to the consumer continues continuously in accordance with the applicable criteria," specifies the joint commission.
These rumors spread on the eve of each tourist season in the northern cities, notes the newspaper, urging the relevant municipal councils to take measures to stop these malicious rumors, such as initiating legal proceedings against their alleged authors.
