Morocco Debates TikTok Ban Amid Concerns Over Youth Content and Values

Many Moroccans continue to call for the banning of TikTok, denouncing the publication by young people of violent or sexual content on this application which, according to them, undermines the values of the kingdom.
The popular application has become a means exploited by some Moroccans to beg for money through videos where they expose their problems and the secrets of their homes in order to profit from them, which has encouraged a large segment of young people to engage in the application despite its many disadvantages and dangers.
The use of TikTok has a clear negative impact on young people, says this group of Moroccans, noting that the Chinese application leads the younger generation to debauchery and the search for easy gain. For these reasons, they are calling on the government to ban TikTok in the kingdom.
A few weeks ago, the Education, Culture and Communication Committee in the House of Representatives had also raised the issue. On this occasion, deputies had called for the banning in Morocco of TikTok as well as other applications that do not have security and protection policies and standards for young people and children.
