Morocco’s Customs Revenue Surges 23% to 41.6 Billion Dirhams in First Half of Year

At the end of last June, Moroccan customs collected more than 41.6 billion dirhams, up 22.9% compared to last year’s figures.
In its monthly bulletin of public finance statistics, the General Treasury of the Kingdom (TGR) noted a sharp increase in customs revenue.
This upward trend takes into account tax refunds, rebates and restitutions of 161 million dirhams, after the first 6 months of the year, notes the note, according to which gross customs revenue increased by 23.3% to 41.8 billion dirhams.
In detail, the net revenue from customs duties realized during the period reached 6.7 billion dirhams, up 22.3%. And the net revenue from VAT on imports stood at 26.9 billion dirhams, up 32.3%.
As for the net revenue from the domestic consumption tax (TIC) on energy products, it decreased by 0.4% to 7.9 billion dirhams, taking into account tax refunds, rebates and restitutions of 128 million dirhams.
