Morocco Curbs Delta Variant Surge, But COVID-19 Threat Remains

Morocco has managed to curb the wave linked to the Delta variant. However, the risk of coronavirus infection is far from over.
On his Linkedin page, the coordinator of the National Public Health Emergency Operations Center at the Ministry of Health, Mouad Mrabet, provided an update on the epidemiological situation in the kingdom.
For him, the closure of the Delta wave does not mean the end of the epidemic, noting that "the background noise will continue".
In recent days, he specified, the center has recorded an average number of 300-400 cases per day, i.e. an incidence of <7 cases/100,000 inhabitants/week, an average daily number of deaths of 5-6, an average daily number of serious cases of 29-30 and an overall positivity rate of 4%.
The risk of infection during this period is not zero, nor is the risk of serious Covid-19, he warned, noting that "an unfortunate new wave is very likely given the epidemiological situation in Europe".
To avoid this risk, Dr. Mrabet called for maintaining the pace of vaccination and respecting individual preventive measures.
