Morocco’s Crown Prince to Represent Kingdom at Pope Francis’s Funeral

Prince Moulay Hassan is expected this Saturday at the Vatican for Pope Francis’s funeral, where he will represent the Kingdom of Morocco.
This presence was confirmed by the Bishop of Rabat, Cristóbal López Romero. The latter, who arrived in Rome to take part in the ceremony alongside other international delegations, communicated the information during a statement to the media.
According to the reported words of Mgr López Romero, the crown prince’s attendance illustrates "the depth of relations between Morocco and the Vatican," also testifying to "the esteem that the Kingdom holds for the stature of the late pope."
These funeral services will be held following the death of Pope Francis, announced on Monday. The pontiff, aged 88, reportedly died from a stroke. The Vatican specified on Tuesday that the funeral ceremony would take place Saturday in St. Peter’s Square.
