Morocco Cracks Down: 15 Travel Agencies Face Sanctions for Service Violations

After complaints filed against them, fifteen travel agencies have been sanctioned by the technical advisory committee of travel agencies.
According to the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatima-Zahra Ammor, the sanctions range from the permanent withdrawal of the travel agent’s license to temporary withdrawal and warning. On Tuesday, in response to oral questions from deputies in the House of Representatives, she specified that the imposition of these sanctions responds to the efforts made to professionalize the tourism sector and control the quality of services.
Thus, three agencies in Casablanca and Tetouan have lost their accreditation, in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 31.96 on the status of travel agencies. The committee withdrew the travel agent’s license for a period of three months from two agencies located in Skhirate and Salé. The other agencies located in Casablanca, Asilah, Agadir, Rabat and Tiznit have just received a warning. The fifteen agencies flagged are prohibited from organizing trips to Mecca for three years.
