Morocco Cracks Down: Two El Jadida Officers Arrested in Bribery Sting

Two law enforcement officers will appear on Thursday, March 19, before the criminal chamber near the court of first instance of El Jadida. They are being prosecuted for corruption.
Zero tolerance for corruption in Morocco. These two law enforcement officers working at the administrative annex of the 4th district in El Jadida learned this the hard way. One of the two officers was taken to the local Sidi Moussa prison last Saturday after being presented to the King’s Prosecutor. He was caught red-handed after pocketing a bribe of two hundred dirhams. The victim was requesting an administrative document and found herself forced to pay a bribe, reports aujourd’hui.ma.
A complaint was filed with the King’s Prosecutor, who gave instructions to get to the bottom of this case. A trap was then set by the judicial police elements, resulting in the arrest of the officer in question as well as his accomplice, who was the one who informed the victim that she had to pay a counterpart to get the administrative document.
