Morocco’s Covid Vaccine Supply Dwindles as Campaign Progresses

More than a month after the launch of the national vaccination campaign against Covid-19, would Morocco be running out of stock? After the first doses administered to 3,820,097 people, the kingdom would only have 200,000 doses left.
Since Friday, January 29, 2021, the date of the launch of the national vaccination campaign, Morocco has received 8 million doses of vaccines from the two British and Chinese laboratories. This quantity should vaccinate a total of 4 million citizens.
If the health authorities have decided to reserve half of the stock for the second dose of people already vaccinated, the kingdom will only be able to hold out for a few more days for the continuation of the vaccination campaign against Covid-19 if it vaccinates 100,000 people per day.
According to sources close to the Ministry of Health, the pace of vaccination must be maintained. "We will maintain the same pace both for people who will be vaccinated for the first time and for those called to receive the second dose," said a source close to the supervisory ministry. As of March 4, 413,032 people have received the 2nd dose and are fully immunized. In other words, Morocco has already used a little more than 4.2 million doses of vaccines, out of a total of 8 million doses received to date.
Latest news, Morocco is preparing to receive another batch of Covid vaccines this Saturday. Other batches of vaccines could also be shipped from the British laboratory, not to mention the batches promised under the Covax program.
