Morocco's COVID-19 Vaccination Success: Women Lead the Charge in Nationwide Effort

The smooth running of the anti-Covid-19 vaccination campaign in Morocco is unanimously acclaimed. This is the case with "Vaccination: the Moroccan miracle", the title of the report by the French magazine ELLE on this successful vaccination campaign in Morocco.

All is well in this fight against Covid-19 in Morocco. "Since January, Morocco has been leading a vigorous and flawless vaccination campaign, relying on a valuable local network and a strong mobilization of women," wrote the French weekly, which was mainly interested in the "peculiarities" of the vaccination campaign in the kingdom.

For this campaign, the authorities have set up 3,047 injection "stations" throughout the country and 10,017 "mobile teams" responsible for making home injections for people unable to travel and in very remote areas. The result of this strategy is satisfactory, indicated the magazine, which reports that 4.2 million Moroccans have been vaccinated with both doses as of April 23, 2021. Thanks to this campaign, Morocco is ranked the first country in the African continent in vaccination and one of the ten best in the world.

To get vaccinated, you just have to dial your ID card number and send it by text message to 1717 to get an appointment at one of the vaccination stations. Launched on January 28 by King Mohammed VI, the vaccination is optional and free, the magazine pointed out, adding that in each region of the country, the organization and management of the centers are led by representatives of the Ministries of the Interior and Health. The weekly notes that women (70% of the country’s health workforce) play a major role in the national mobilization.
