Morocco’s COVID-19 Death Toll Nears 5,000 as Daily Fatalities Surge

The Ministry of Health announced 82 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours. Nearly 8 months after the first active cases were recorded, Morocco is approaching 5,000 deaths (4,932).
Covid-19 caused 18 deaths in the Greater Casablanca-Settat region, including 13 in Casablanca, 4 in Berrechid and 1 in Nouaceur. Rabat-Salé-Kénitra reports 16 deaths with 5 in Skhirate-Témara against 3 in Salé, 3 in Kénitra and 3 in Khémisset.
In the Oriental region, 13 people died from Covid-19 with 7 deaths in Oujda-Angad, 1 in Berkane, 1 in Nador, 1 in Taourit, 1 in Driouch, 1 in Guercif and 1 in Figuig. Then comes Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima which records 10 deaths with 3 deaths in Tanger-Assilah, 3 in Ouezzane, 2 in Larache, 1 in Chefchaouen and 1 in M’Diq-Fnideq.
Marrakech-Safi has 7 deaths, including 4 in Marrakech, 1 in Essaouira, 1 in Youssoufia and 1 in Chichaoua. In Fès-Meknès, 5 deaths were recorded with 1 in Fès, 1 in Séfrou, 1 in Meknès, 1 in Taounate and 1 in Ifrane. It is followed by Béni Mellal-Khénifra which reports 4 deaths, all in Khourigba.
The Souss-Massa and Darâa-Tafilalet regions each report 3 deaths. While Taroudannt recorded 2 deaths against 1 death in Chtouka- Ait Baha, Errachidia and Ouarzazate report 2 and 1 death respectively. Guelmim-Oued Noun, for its part, had 2 deaths, 1 in Guelmin and 1 in Tan Tan. As for Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, it has 1 death in Oued Ed-Dahab.
