Morocco's Covid-19 Cases Decline 12.7%, Reproduction Rate Drops to 0.9

After several months of stagnation at 0.7, the reproduction rate rose to 1.22 on November 8 before settling at 0.9 this Sunday, according to an official from the Ministry of Health.

The weekly epidemiological curve related to Covid-19 in Morocco has seen a 12.7% decline until November 22, compared to 5.9% for the death curve, says the head of the communicable diseases division at the Ministry of Health, Abdelkrim Meziane Belfkih.

In detail, this decline was -2.4% in Fès-Meknès, -6.2%, -8.6% in Marrakech-Safi, -12.5 in Darâa-Tafilalet (-8.7%), -12.5% in the Oriental, -15.2% in Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (-15.2%), -17, 7% in Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra, -21.7% in Dakhla-Oued Eddahad (-21.7%), -21.9% in Casablanca-Settat and -34.4% in Béni Mellal-Khénifra. On the other hand, this curve has seen an increase in the regions of Guelmim-Oued Noun (+28%), Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (+9.1%) and Souss-Massa (+8.1%).

For Abdelkrim Meziane Belfkih, Morocco has carried out 4 million PCR screening tests, which places it in 2nd place at the continental level and 31st worldwide in this regard.

To date, the balance sheet stands at 331,527 (+3,999) active cases against 5,469 (+73) deaths and 279,276 recoveries (+4,118). The head of the communicable diseases division at the epidemiology and disease control directorate at the ministry has also called for compliance with preventive health measures, including wearing protective masks, regular hand washing, physical distancing and the use of the Wiqaytna application, which are likely to counter the coronavirus pandemic.
