Morocco Court Orders 6 Ministers to Vacate Parliamentary Seats

The Constitutional Court has just ordered six ministers in the Akhannouch government to vacate their seats in parliament, won in the September 8 election.
The High Court had to rule on the issue of the vacancy of the seats won by these six elected officials who were then appointed to the government. In a decision dated November 2, it recalled that, in accordance with the texts in force, the electoral mandate of a member of parliament is incompatible with that of a member of the government.
Consequently, the ministers Nizar Baraka (Larache, PI), Fatima Zahra Mansouri (Marrakech, PAM), Abdellatif Ouahbi (Taroudant, PAM), Mohammed Sadiki (RNI, Berkane), Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid (Rabat, PAM) and Mustapha Baïtas (Sidi Ifni, RNI) are called upon to vacate their seats, now declared vacant in parliament.
The decision of the Constitutional Court was notified to the President of the House of Representatives and the Head of Government. The candidates in second place on the lists of the ministers concerned are invited to occupy the said seats.
