Morocco Considers Three Scenarios for School Reopening Amid COVID-19

The Ministry of National Education is working to ensure that the 2020-2021 school year goes well. And to achieve this, Said Amzazi announced on Sunday that his department plans three scenarios that will take into account the evolution of the epidemiological situation related to Covid-19.
In a previous statement, the ministry had stated that distance learning was the only possible option, even if the conditions would be met to allow students whose parents so wish to attend face-to-face classes. But the reflections have been deepened in order to propose several alternatives.
Thus, the first scenario provides for the adoption of 100% face-to-face teaching in the event that the country’s epidemiological situation would improve. The second choice available to the sector’s stakeholders is an alternation between face-to-face teaching and self-teaching, still in the event of stability in the level of contamination cases. This option will be accompanied by strict compliance with preventive measures.
As for the third scenario, it focuses on distance learning if the epidemiological situation, instead of improving, worsens. But the first two options seem to be the ones that suit, according to Minister Said Amzazi. He stressed that parents who opt for distance learning will have to fill out a form with the schools or on the Massar system.
The Minister of National Education took the opportunity to specify that the Regional Exam of the 1st year of Baccalaureate has been postponed for the simple reason that the current context is not suitable and could jeopardize the health and well-being of the students. This is why the class councils will take into account the continuous face-to-face control notes.
