Morocco Considers Stricter COVID-19 Measures as Cases Rise, Official Warns

With the new prevention measures dictated by the government in order to effectively fight the Covid-19 pandemic, the situation should normally improve within two weeks. However, if the deterioration persists, the government will be forced to take much stricter measures.
Invited on Monday in the morning program of the Moroccan news radio (RIM RADIO), Mouad Mrabet, the coordinator of the National Center for Public Health Emergency Operations at the Ministry of Health, indicated that if despite the efforts of the national health system to fight the relapse, the latter persists, the government will be forced to implement more rigorous measures. Because the spread could wipe out all the progress made by the kingdom in the fight against the pandemic, warned the coordinator, specifying that the daily number of cases has now risen to "4,000 with more than 100 new cases per day in intensive care and intensive care units while the number of deaths reaches 20 cases per day", reports the Map.
This increase is mainly recorded in Casablanca and Marrakech, said Mrabet, urging Moroccans to continue to take the necessary precautions and to further respect the barrier gestures including the correct wearing of masks, hand washing with soap and water, the use of disinfectant and respect for physical distancing. Furthermore, if someone shows signs of fever, cough, fatigue, muscle aches and others, they must self-isolate to avoid any contamination and go to a health center as soon as possible to undergo the necessary tests, he advised.
For the record, the anti-Covid vaccination campaign is progressing normally. Vaccination centers are open until 8 p.m. every day without exception. Mrabet also invites citizens to get vaccinated and to ignore all false information aimed at discrediting the effectiveness of vaccines, so that the worst can be avoided.
