Morocco Considers Repatriation Plan for Citizens Stranded Abroad Amid COVID Concerns

The government is studying the possibility of launching repatriation operations for Moroccans currently stranded abroad, according to the Minister of Health.
"The authorities are studying the possibility of repatriating Moroccans stranded abroad. We will put in place a different health protocol depending on each country," said Khaled Ait Taleb, according to whom, it was necessary "to take into account that several of them are in countries with a dangerous epidemiological situation".
And he recalled that the authorities had decided to suspend air and sea links in order to "protect the Kingdom from the Omicron variant but also to preserve the gains made".
"Due to the rapid spread of the new variant of the Covid-19 virus - Omicron (B.1.1.529), particularly in Europe and Africa, and in order to preserve the gains made by Morocco in the fight against the pandemic and protect the health of citizens, it has been decided to suspend all direct passenger flights to the Kingdom of Morocco, for a period of 2 weeks, starting from Monday, November 29, 2021 at 11:59 pm," the government said in a surprise statement.
