Morocco Considers Mandatory Vaccination as Borders Reopen Amid Health Concerns

To preserve the gains of the management of the health crisis and quickly achieve collective immunity, Morocco could resort to compulsory vaccination, as part of the reopening of borders.
After the thorny decision to resume international travel, announced for February 7, the authorities are now facing the challenge of collective immunity, reports Al Ahdath Al Maghribia, noting that they now find themselves in a situation where they must avoid any worsening of the health situation.
Will they force all Moroccans to complete their vaccination schedule, and thus avoid the worst? wonders the newspaper, recalling that the reopening of borders risks causing Morocco to lose its health gains. Only a rapid achievement of collective immunity will allow the risk of a deterioration of the health situation to be managed serenely, it stressed.
The government would be in this dynamic, notes the newspaper, according to which a meeting between the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, accompanied in particular by his Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, and the leaders of the main political parties represented in Parliament, this as part of the consultations for the taking of measures, which must accompany the reopening of the borders.
The objective of this meeting is to discuss the decisions that the Executive could take so that the vaccination campaign is a success. It is thus a question of encouraging Moroccans to get fully vaccinated with the 3 recommended doses. Will this go as far as the introduction of compulsory vaccination? The answer in a few days.
