Morocco Considers New Lockdown as COVID-19 Cases Surge Ahead of Eid Al-Adha

As Aid Al-Adha and the seasonal flu approach, Health Minister Khalid Aït Taleb fears a resurgence of Covid-19 cases. Morocco could be locked down again.
The number of people declared positive for the coronavirus continues to increase due to non-compliance with preventive measures. This situation could worsen during Aid Al-Adha and the seasonal flu. Already, the Ministries of the Interior and Health have issued a joint press release to ban travel to and from the cities of Tangier, Tetouan, Fez, Meknes, Casablanca, Berrechid, Settat and Marrakech from Sunday, July 26 at midnight.
In the same dynamic, the Minister of Health, Khalid Aït Taleb recommends the implementation of a preventive vaccination plan against seasonal flu for the benefit of vulnerable people, reports Assabah. According to the minister, Morocco is managing its epidemiological situation, but it is no less difficult to manage.
Mr. Taleb calls on Moroccans to strictly respect the preventive measures enacted as part of the fight against Covid-19. For him, it is only at this price that Morocco can rule out any reconfinement and even win the fight against this deadly virus.
