Morocco Considers Extending COVID-19 State of Emergency

The extension of the state of health emergency is on the agenda of discussions at the next cabinet meeting scheduled for Thursday.
According to a press release from the Prime Minister’s Department, the council will be devoted to the examination of four draft decrees, the first of which concerns the duration of validity of the state of health emergency throughout the national territory, as part of the efforts deployed to fight against the spread of Covid-19.
This will be followed by the examination of a draft decree on the application of the law relating to the compulsory health insurance scheme (AMO) and the law establishing a pension scheme for the categories of professionals, self-employed workers and non-salaried persons engaged in a liberal activity, for the owners of artisanal fishing boats, with the exception of those subject to the social security system, the statement said.
Then, the Executive will look at the study of a draft decree amending and supplementing the decree implementing these laws for traders and craftsmen keeping accounts, while the fourth draft decree amends the one creating the Bouknadel industrial zone.
Finally, the Council will rule on proposals for appointments to senior positions, in accordance with the provisions of Article 92 of the Constitution.
