Morocco Considers Extending COVID-19 Lockdown as Cases Rise

Initially scheduled to end on April 20, the confinement measure in force since March 20 in Morocco could be extended. The hypothesis was raised by the Head of Government, Saad Eddine El Otmani.
The confinement measure issued by the kingdom to block the path of covid-19 could be extended by two to three weeks. According to the Head of Government, Saad Eddine El Otmani, this envisaged extension aims to prevent the worst in Morocco. This, given the evolution of the health crisis in the country. Moreover, the results of the ongoing confinement allow to consider an extension.
The Head of Government specified that the confinement has allowed the kingdom to avoid the worst scenarios in the covid-19 crisis. This positions Morocco as one of the countries that have implemented the most appropriate measures to the crisis in the world. He reiterated the kingdom’s commitment to fully play its role in the security of every Moroccan citizen. The continuation of compliance with preventive measures is recommended, pending the extension of the confinement.
