Morocco Considers Easing COVID-19 Restrictions as Vaccination Progresses

The scientific and technical committee held a meeting last Monday during which it recommended easing the restrictive measures enacted to fight the coronavirus and its variants in Morocco. Are we heading towards a gradual return to normal?
Moroccans are expecting the lifting of the restrictive measures taken by the government to curb the spread of the coronavirus and its variants. Already, the scientific and technical committee is suggesting an easing of these measures, reports Al Ahdath Al Maghribia. However, certain conditions must be met: extension of the vaccination pass, improvement of the country’s epidemiological situation and progress of the national vaccination campaign.
Access to open spaces, a new curfew, free movement in the evening for vaccinated people with a health pass were on the agenda of the meeting of the members of the scientific and technical committee. On this occasion, they made several recommendations. These include the authorization of gatherings and activities in closed spaces, as well as events in open spaces without recommending a limited number of people; the opening of theaters, cinemas, cultural centers, libraries or museums.
The scientific and technical committee also recommended the opening of sports halls, hammams and swimming pools, the resumption of wedding celebrations and the return of supporters to the stadiums.
