Morocco Considers Dropping PCR Test Requirement for Air Travelers

Mohamed Abdeljalil, Minister of Transport and Logistics, assured that the government is making the abolition of the requirement to present the PCR test for travelers arriving from abroad by air a priority and is looking into the issue.
Responding to a question about the abolition of the PCR test for vaccinated foreign travelers arriving by air during the weekly oral question session of the House of Representatives on Monday, Mohamed Abdeljalil said that the government council is reflecting on the subject. "The cancellation of the PCR requirement for air travel, which concerns several ministerial departments, is an important and priority decision," he told Le360, stressing that this measure is essential to "accelerate the recovery of the tourism sector".
It is a measure that tourism professors are also demanding. According to them, this condition strongly hinders the revival of tourism activities, particularly the tourism promotion campaign initiated by the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), reports L’Économiste. "Failing the lifting of this provision, we at least demand alignment with what has been decided for access to the territory by sea," pleads Hamid Bentahar, president of the National Confederation of Tourism (CNT).
Since April 8th, travelers have been given the option of presenting either a PCR test of less than 72 hours or a valid vaccination pass to enter Moroccan territory. Aligning the health protocol for air transport with that of maritime transport is therefore strongly desired.
