Morocco Considers New Covid Measures as Cases Rise, Potentially Impacting Summer Travel

Morocco has been facing a resurgence of Covid-19 cases in recent weeks. The level of vigilance has gone from low green to medium orange. The government could resort to "undesirable measures" to curb infections and consequently make the holidays of Moroccans living abroad less enjoyable.
"The government notes an increase in Covid-19 cases. We have gone from a comfortable situation to one that is not reassuring," warned government spokesman Mustapha Baitas during the press conference held after the Council of Government.
In response to this worrying situation, the minister called for strict compliance with preventive measures to limit the spread of the virus, stating that the government will closely monitor this file in light of the current situation, characterized by the arrival of summer and the return of Moroccans living abroad.
"Let’s hope the government will not be forced to take undesirable measures," Baitas warned.
To recall, the coordinator of the National Center for Public Health Emergency Operations at the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, Mouad Mrabet, had stated on Tuesday that the epidemiological situation is characterized by a shift in the community transmission of Covid-19 from the "low green" to the "medium orange" level of vigilance, particularly in major cities.
