Morocco Confirms First Coronavirus Case in Moroccan Resident Returning from Italy

Morocco has been affected by the Coronavirus virus since Monday evening. The Ministry of Health announced that it had received confirmation from the Pasteur Institute-Morocco laboratory.
March 2, 2020 will remain etched in the collective memory of Moroccans as the day the coronavirus managed to slip through the security system put in place. The virus carrier is a Moroccan national residing in Italy.
In a statement, the Ministry of Health stressed that the infected person’s health condition is stable and that he is being closely monitored in the isolation unit at Moulay Youssef Hospital in Casablanca, where he will be taken care of according to the prevailing health measures.
As soon as the analyzes were conclusive, a joint team, composed of specialists from the national and regional centers for public health emergency operations, conducted investigations that allowed it to identify the list of all the people who had been in contact with the patient. The objective is to monitor their state of health in order to take preventive measures to prevent the spread of the virus, in accordance with national and international health safety standards.
The Ministry of Health assures that it will continue to communicate with the public and inform it of all the news as it has been doing since the emergence of this global health emergency.
