Morocco Confirms Eid al-Adha Celebration, Plans Sheep Imports to Ensure Affordable Prices

The Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, confirmed that Eid Al-Adha will indeed take place in Morocco this year. Speaking before the House of Representatives during the monthly session dedicated to the general policy of the Executive, he declared: "The Eid al-Adha feast will take place this year."
Aziz Akhannouch also confirmed that Morocco will continue to import sheep to ensure affordable prices for the holiday and allow the reconstitution of the national herd. According to his remarks, "Morocco will continue to import sheep, to guarantee affordable prices for the holiday, but also to allow the reconstitution of the national herd."
The Head of Government also mentioned the impact of the lack of fodder on the country’s bovine heritage. To remedy this, Morocco has so far imported 30,000 head of cattle from Brazil, a country that exports about one million cows annually, stressing that "the Brazilian variety is of good quality".
