Morocco Confirms Baccalaureate Exams Will Proceed Despite COVID-19 Concerns

Saaïd Amzazi, Minister of National Education, has repeatedly stated that "the baccalaureate exam is still maintained", thus trying to put an end to the rumors that it will likely be canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic affecting Morocco.
"The baccalaureate exams remain on the agenda of our program, as the exams constitute an opportunity to enhance the students’ skills," affirmed the Minister of National Education in response to questions from Le360. For Saaïd Amzazi, the hypothesis of canceling the 2020 baccalaureate exams due to the coronavirus is excluded and unacceptable.
"In Morocco, we are not at the same level of the epidemic as in France, nor are we facing the same situation. [...] We cannot extrapolate a French decision by analogy to Morocco. For us, and I say this publicly, the baccalaureate exam is still maintained," reiterated the Minister of National Education.
Saaïd Amzazi also reassured that he "is working on different scenarios depending on the national epidemiological situation and the decision of the health authorities to lift the confinement," with a view to the proper conduct of the exam.
